2009 Smooth Style Beauty Bash
Strolling hors d’oeuvres, food stations, complimentary champagne and a fashion show are just a portion of what you can expect at the Sheraton in Novi this Thursday during the second annual Smooth Style Beauty Bash.
This swanky soirée will raise funds for the Oakland County’s Lighthouse PATH organization, a long-term program that helps homeless women and their children.
“It shows that many people in Detroit care about one another even with the economy,” says Dior Senior Account Executive Chris Bonatz.
The event, hosted in part by Christian Dior Cosmetics and Smooth Jazz V98.7, will award one lucky woman a beauty makeover valued at $50,000, which includes dental work.
A Dior fashion show makes up the entertainment, and the first 200 people to purchase tickets will receive a goodie bag with $100 worth of hair and beauty products.
7-10 p.m. Thursday, Sheraton Novi, 21111 Haggerty Rd., Novi. $35.
Karma Sutra Fridays turns one
With basketball fever in the air, the National Basketball Association has teamed up with the creators of Karma Sutra Fridays to put on a charity event at Andiamo’s Champion’s Club (formerly Asian Village).
“It’s a fundraiser for a nonprofit called Team Detroit,” says Chuck Wells, who will be celebrating the one-year anniversary of Karma Sutra Fridays, which was once held at the now defunct Asian Village. The weekly event has also been held at Seldom Blues and South Beach.
Team Detroit is a nearly 20-year-old nonprofit basketball organization that provides opportunities for inner-city youth to play the game while learning from some of the best coaches in the area.
Friday’s party is expected to be hosted by Braylon Edwards, Isaiah Thomas, Rod Strickland and other A-list celebs like Denzel Washington.
Playboy Energy Final 4 event
Kristin Jackson will show Detroit that Playboy Playmates have more to offer than just their, um, assets this Saturday at South Beach.
24-year-old Jackson, a former Playboy Playmate, will trade her bunny ears for headphones and don her persona as DJ Kay Jay as the final four teams prepare to battle it out for the title of NCAA champions.
Presented in part by Channel 95.5 FM, Playboy Energy Drink and Metromix, the party will feature a bikini fashion show with 20 models from around the in the United States, acrobat ceiling performers, Miami go-go dancers and a dance hall. As if that's not enough to get out to the ultra lounge, the bash will be hosted by Playmate of the Year Kara Monaco, Jessica Burciaga (Miss February 2009), Tiffany Selby (Miss June 2007), Lindsay Wagner (Miss November 2007) and 2008 Cyber girl of the year Jo Garcia.
