The lowdown: Although Cheli’s is worth visiting anytime, it’s a premier destination on big sporting days. That’s when Cheli’s, owned by Red Wings star Chris Chelios, really comes alive. If spring weather hasn’t yet arrived, you can warm up with a delicious bowl of Cheli’s famous chili, available with cheese, onions, guacamole, jalapeños and a dozen other possibilities. It’s bound to be packed, so arrive early or you might stand in line.
Special events or activities: Cheli’s is the host venue for Michigan State fans. There’ll be DJs and live music, plus an outdoor tent.
Saturday opening time: 9:30 a.m.
Capacity: 3,000.
TVs: 40 plasmas and a few big screens.
Cover charge: No cover in the morning. Sliding cover, $5-$20 later in the day.
