Located on Woodward and Garfield between the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Detroit Institute of Arts, this 22,000-square foot gallery is dedicated to presenting works by emerging artists at the forefront of contemporary culture. This appropriately raw museum, which opened its doors in 2006, boasts free admission, three-to-four rotating exhibits a year and a quaint cafe with wi-fi. The museum gift shop showcases a variety of buyable work by local artists and features ceramics, t-shirts, bags, jewelry, magazines and books. --Andrea K. Farmer
